Sydney might be our backyard but with a city as vast and beautiful as this one, there’s always a million and one new places to discover, especially when you’ve got a tribe full of little ones to entertain! To help you find some of these hidden treasures we chat with Sydney mama and photographer Bel Pangburn (@belpang), about her favorite spots to go on kid-friendly adventures with her little girl, Sunday (3).

WHAT ARE THE BEST PLACES IN SYDNEY TO…?

HANG OUT AFTER PRESCHOOL / SCHOOL?

We don’t usually get home til 5:30-6pm so its straight into dinner, bath and bed. On our days at home, we wander down to Clovelly Beach for an afternoon paddle and play.

GO ON A SATURDAY?

We either head for the beach or take a CBD adventure, but always brunch first!

HAVE A FAMILY DINNER OUT?

Three-year-olds are the best for taking to dinner… we’re a pair who loves to brunch. Our brunch favs are Bread & Circus or Mecca in Alexandria, Paramount in Surry Hills and Clodeli (@clodeli_clovelly) in Clovelly. Sunday also loves seeing all the farm animals at The Grounds.

HAVE DINNER WITH YOUR FRIENDS?

My latest fav is the newly opened Chin Chin. I highly recommend the “Feed Me” option. More food than you’ll ever be able to eat, and I feel like it’s a playlist of all the chef’s best creations. Divine!

SHOP FOR YOUR KIDS?

Kido in Clovelly have some beautiful pieces if you’re looking for something a bit luxe.

DECORATE YOUR HOME?

Is it too tight-ass to say I love Gumtree?! Ha. Some of my most treasured home furnishings have been gems hunted down through Gumtree.

TAKE YOUR KIDS FOR AN ADVENTURE?

My daughter loves public transport, so adventure days look like us taking a bus, train or ferry anywhere in the city. She’s not hard to impress and with a harbour like we have, I’m always more than happy when we end up on a ferry!

 LEARN SOMETHING NEW?

Taronga Zoo makes for a fun way to learn some new things. And I think those animals might have some of the best real estates in the city! Take the ferry from Circular Quay for an extra dose of adventure.

GRAB A COFFEE ON THE RUN?

Artificer in Surry Hills. Beautiful aesthetics and perfect coffee every time!

GET OUTDOORS?

Gordon’s Bay is gorgeous. Lots of fun to be had exploring the rocks and the snorkeling there is next level.

TAKE OUT-OF-TOWNERS?

The Coastal walk is a must-see. The beauty of it is that you can hop on or off at any point from Bondi all the way to Maroubra. Walk as long or short as you want. And those views! Paradise.

GET INSPIRED?

The MCA is our go-to. Sunday quite likes all the interactive and wild modern art. It’s not always easy to keep her engaged for long, but well-po­­sed questions about what is being exhibited always draw her in and piques her interest.

GO TO WHEN YOU HAVE A MOMENT TO YOURSELF?
